Give us a call to inquire about services and to schedule a tour of our center or to learn more about our in-home services! CPABA Therapy staff will answer any questions you might have about ABA therapy and we will walk you through the initial steps for obtaining services for your child.

Once you have expressed interest in CPABA Therapy, you will be sent an intake packet and parent handbook. Please complete each form as thoroughly as possible. Once CPABA Therapy receives your completed intake packet, proof of diagnosis, and prescription or referral for ABA services, your insurance benefits will be verified.

CPABA Therapy will then submit a request to your insurance agency for the initial assessment for ABA services. Once your insurance company approves the assessment, we will contact you to schedule your child’s intake and assessment.

The initial assessment is conducted by one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts. Both you and your child should be present for this appointment. Intake appointments typically take approximately 2 hours.

During the assessment, we will observe your child and conduct a parent/caregiver interview. The caregiver interview is essential in that we are able to learn about your child, the dynamics of your family, and skill deficits you would like to see addressed during therapy. Caregivers may also be asked to complete some assessments to create a clearer picture of your child’s needs and strengths. After the initial assessment and intake are completed, an initial individualized treatment plan will be developed.

Common Assessments Used

The PDD Behavior Inventory- PDDBI

PEAK Relational Training System

Additionally, the BCBA will conduct a Functional Behavioral Assessment to determine what environmental variables are maintaining any identified problem behaviors. Once the reason, or function, for the behaviors are known, CPABA Therapy will develop a behavior intervention plan to reduce problem behaviors and increase appropriate behaviors.

The BCBAs at CPABA Therapy will have the initial behavior plan and treatment plan prepared within 3-7 days from the date of the intake.

When the assessment is complete, the supervising BCBA will schedule a time to meet with you to review your child’s assessment results and to discuss your child’s individualized treatment plan. CPABA Therapy will recommend the number of hours we think will benefit your child. At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to meet the Registered Behavioral Technician who will be working 1:1 with your child. Once this meeting is completed, CPABA Therapy will submit a request to your insurance agency for on-going therapy. If all paperwork is in order, the authorization process takes 3-5 business days.
